A a

It was said to the Messenger of Allah — may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him: “Which women are best?”
He said: “The one who pleases him when he looks at her, obeys him when he commands, and does not oppose him in herself or his wealth in what he dislikes.”

Narrated by Aḥmad (nos. 9587, 9658), al-Nasā’ī (no. 3231, and this is his wording), and al-Bayhaqī in al-Sunan al-Kubrā (no. 13477), from the narration of Abū Hurayrah — may Allah be pleased with him.
Authenticated in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ (no. 3298) and Silsilat al-Aḥādīth al-Ṣaḥīḥah (no. 1838).

Brief Explanation of the Hadith

Islam has encouraged and promoted marriage and has made clear the qualities that should be sought in a woman so that she may be a righteous wife.
This is exemplified by what was narrated by Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "Which of women is best?" meaning, the best in character and the most blessed for her husband. He — may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him — said: “The one who pleases him when he looks at her…”
Thus, the righteous woman is she who brings joy to her husband’s heart: when he looks at her, he is pleased by her appearance, her graceful manners, and her good character. In her he finds comfort and tranquility — and this is the first quality.
As for the second quality: she does not argue with him nor disobey him, but rather complies with his command — in obedience to her Lord and in fulfilling the rights of her husband.
And the third: she does not withhold herself when he desires intimacy, and she guards her chastity and honor in his absence. She also safeguards his wealth, not spending it except with his permission and in a manner he approves — except in cases of necessity.
These three qualities encompass the essence of goodness in a wife: a source of joy to the eye, a support in obedience, and a trust in times of absence. With such a woman, life becomes pleasant, the household remains upright, and marital happiness is attained.
